THE CHOPIN MUSEUM ASKS FOR SUPPORT

There is an opportunity to buy new documents to the unique collection of the Chopin Museum and hereby the Museum makes a request to all music lovers for financial support, which will enable the Museum to buy 4 new Chopin’s letters.   

On Friday 24th of June 2011 in the Camard & Associes auction house in Paris four Chopin's letters will be put up for sale.

Three letters from Chopin to Solange Clésinger were a part of the private collection of Samuel Rocheblave and were published for the first time in 1910 in his book entitled: George Sand et sa fille:

  1.  [Paris, c. 19th May 1847], (0,5 page with text), asking price: 10.000–15.000 EUR.
  2. Paris, Saturday, 18th September 1847, (1,5 pages with text), asking price: 12.000–15.000 EUR.
  3. Paris, Thursday, 5th [–7th] April [1849], (2 pages with text), asking price: 10.000–15.000 EUR.

The fourth auctioned object will be the Chopin’s letter to Thomas Albrecht (Manchester, 1st September 1848, 4 pages with text), asking price: 15.000–20.000 EUR.
